Professional Skills+ Communication Award (2020)
The Professional Skills Curriculum Plus (PSC+) award is a co-curricular development programme for students at the University of St Andrews. Attaining a PSC+ award indicates that a student has already achieved a PSC Award and has actively chosen to further their learning by specialising in a particular skills area. PSC+ Communication This award involves a series of connected workshops, each focusing on developing nuanced communication skills, including clarity in communication, communicating in pressure situations and communicating with difficult people. The sessions are delivered by a communications professional and students are encouraged to supplement their learning with real-life application.
Criteria
To gain a Professional Skills Curriculum Plus award, participants have to complete five out of six workshops and pass the associated assessment (a reflective essay, assessed presentation, or other assessed outputs). The award is jointly given by the Centre of Academic, Professional and Organisational Development at the University of St Andrews, and the University of St Andrews Students' Association. The award is endorsed by the Institute of Leadership and Management, and appears on the student's degree transcript.
