The University has a duty to monitor students being sponsored on the UK Visas and Immigration UKVI Student route and to record points of engagement throughout their studies. We also have a duty to monitor students who are studying under different types of Visas for example Dependent, Ancestry, Diplomatic etc. This means that there is an on-going requirement to ensure that all students holding a visa to study have a valid visa and passport and are engaging with the University throughout their studies. Under UKVI regulations these checks must be carried out several times a year.
All students who hold a visa to enable them to study at the University of St Andrews are required to attend the Semester 2 Confirmation Event to complete a mandatory identification check.
Matriculation is the final step in registering as a student with the university. Matriculation is a mandatory process for all students.
Most of the matriculation process is completed online through the Online Matriculation system. Students need to complete a variety of activities such as providing or re-confirming their personal details, paying any outstanding fees, and agreeing to the University Terms and Conditions.
In January Matriculation all new students and students returning from a leave of absence must attend an in-person ID check.
Returning UK students or EU students with pre-settled/settled status do not need to attend an ID check but must still complete all other elements of Online Matriculation.
AS UKVI information can change throughout the year, it is important to complete the Matriculation Training annually
This ensures all information is current and up to date.
