This course covers how to access and use the online ethics system to administrate and manage applications for ethics review of research involving human participants, data and samples plus related forms. This course is for School ethics committee conveners and administrators only and you must contact the UTREC office to be enrolled in this course.
This includes:
- Accessing and navigating the system
- Accessing and navigating application forms and declarations
- Screening and quality checking application forms and declarations
- Assigning applications to reviewers or meetings
- Reviewing application documents
- Returning comments, feedback and change requests to applicants
- Returning review outcomes to applicants
- Post-review activities such as amendments and reports

This course covers how to use the online ethics review system to complete and submit applications for ethics review of research involving human participants, data or samples plus related forms.
Applications and declarations which can be made through this system include:
- New applications
- Security-sensitive and extremism-related research declarations
- Applications to cover research under a taught module
- Amendments to projects which already have a favourable ethics review outcome.
This course covers all aspects of making an application or declaration using the system, including:
- Accessing and navigating the system
- Completing the forms
- Supervisor comments and authorisation (for students)
- Adding collaborators
- Uploading documents
- Completing system actions
- Review outcomes and next steps
