This course will typically focus on three main periods of European history: The reformation, the Enlightenment and the French Revolution to the Congress of Vienna.

Students will be introduced to historiography and how to research and evaluate the validity of a range of sources. They will be expected to retain factual information as well as to complete homework research tasks, taking an analytical approach towards the key themes covered.

After completion of this course, students should be able to: (1) Recognise the importance of sources in History; (2) Have an awareness of the need to question the validity or otherwise of sources; (3) Have an awareness of the connections between the Reformation era to the era of the French Revolution.
