Mass spectrometry is a technique used routinely in several applications in biological sciences. We will cover principles of mass spectrometry for small molecule quantification, its usage in metabolomics, lipidomics and proteomics. This module will enhance awareness and employability of future students with an interest in mass spectrometry not as the main focus but as a very useful technique in the toolbox employed by a modern biochemist.
We will work on a problem-solving workshop to analyse data and will engage with researchers and scientists employing mass spectrometry as an integral part of their work. Assignments mimic real-life tasks conducted in a research project in industry or academia.
