Module Description. This module aims to develop students' ability to read the Hebrew Bible in its original language. The class will meet for three hours each week to translate and interpret selected passages in Biblical Hebrew in a variety of literary genres, with detailed analysis of the grammar of each verse, and careful exegesis of its meaning.
Intended Learning Outcomes. If you diligently apply yourself in this module, you should: acquire intermediate-level knowledge of biblical Hebrew morphology, syntax, and vocabulary (Knowledge and Understanding) improve your ability to read and translate biblical Hebrew prose more quickly and more accurately, and improve your abilities to pursue exegesis of biblical Hebrew texts by advanced understanding of Hebrew syntax (Discipline Specific and Intellectual Skill) improve your performance ability to read and translate the primary texts in their original Hebrew, and learn to demonstrate your knowledge of the language in the weekly assignments and in the final exam (Transferable Skill).
