This is a compulsory module for the MRes Postgraduate taught programme in Anthropology, Art and Perception. It is aimed at students wanting to develop research skills at the meeting point of anthropology and art, focusing on the role of perception in visual and material culture. The course will cover haptic, visual, sonic, and gustatory themes in anthropology, exploring these through learning, apprenticeship, observation, sound, the use of drawing and photography, craft and design anthropology, and the role of sociality and cooperation in anthropology, art, and design.
