SA3067 provides an introduction to colonial and postcolonial medicine in the Global South. The module explores the ways in which medicine, public health and epidemiology have become entangled with colonial and postcolonial systems of power and knowledge. Merging medical anthropological and medical historical perspectives, the module brings together a wide range of theoretical and empirical material that allow students to approach how colonial and postcolonial medicine become interlinked in the contemporary world, and how different societies respond to this medical legacy.
