This course will explore fundamental questions in the philosophy of time discussed across different philosophical traditions. Topics studied will include the reality or unreality of time, the arrow of time, the passage of time, temporal ontology, time travel, identity across time, temporal experience, and the relationship between time and language. The students will engage with primary texts on the philosophy of time taken both from classical sources in the history of philosophy as well as contemporary research. A particular attention will be given to the difference between approaches to the nature of time based on physics and those based on phenomenology and temporal experience.
