A course in Geometric Group Theory.
It will cover some of the basic concepts in Combinatorial and Geometric Group Theory. Along the way the course will also cover the beginnings of Algebraic Topology: the creation of the pi_1 function (from pointed topological spaces to groups), and explore the Galois connection between covering spaces and subgroups. Finally, the module also demonstrates some uses of coarse geometry in exploring the algebraic and geometric properties of groups.
