The module aims to give an introduction to classical Arab culture by exploring Arab cultural history during the early and classical period (6th–15th centuries). The module will introduce students to the classical Arabic literary heritage and investigate some central aspects of religious life, art history, material culture and gender discourse in pre-modern history of the Arab world.
